Club Monaco Sets Up A Concept Store At Copenhagen’s Noma Restaurant

by Paige Reddinger

A very chic pop-up marriage of food and fashion: yesterday, Club Monaco debuted a concept shop in Copenhagen’s critically-adored Noma restaurant, called CM at Noma. The spot features an edited selection of coed merch, plus accoutrements, vintage goods, coffee and wine, and even some handmade yurts, sourced from Brooklyn. This is the first time the restaurant has partnered with a lifestyle brand to create a shoppable experience inside the restaurant. Last year, Noma was ranked as the world’s number-one restaurant by Restaurant magazine in their list of the top 50 restaurants around the world. The New York Times describes the list as “increasingly influential”; to put that top ranking into perspective for New Yorkers, Thomas Keller‘s Per Se is ranked number 30. The curated boutique with Club Monaco will feature both women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, vintage and home pieces, books, coffee, and wine.

Club Monaco has been dabbling in lifestyle retail since November 2013, including outposts in New York’s Flatiron district, London’s Sloane Square and Red Church streets, and Montreal. Club Monaco is a subsidiary of the Ralph Lauren Corporation and there are arguably few companies that do lifestyle better. The concept store, dubbed CM at Noma, features woven art installations and hand-crafted wooden yurts made in Brooklyn; they’ve also brought New York’s iconic bookstore The Strand to Copenhagen by creating a shop-in-shop library of rare and out-of-print vintage books. Plus! The store’s decor, including custom shearling ottomans, smoked mirror cubes, and vintage oxidized tables are also available for purchase. The concept store also contains a coffee shop, Koppi Kaffe, that serves java and pastries served during the day; a wine bar, Ved Stranden 10, will be open in the afternoons and evenings. The wine bar includes Noma chef and owner René Redzepi’s own Arwen wine, plus local musical performances and wine tastings. Swing by CM at Noma now through March 14th.
