Chic Memories: Betsey Johnson's Cartwheel

by The Daily Front Row

It doesn’t really feel like NYFW until that moment when Betsey Johnson follows tradition and does her signature cartwheel at the end of the show. At 71!!! On Wednesday in front of a front row at Lincoln Center that included Paris Hilton, Sonja Morgan, Iggy Azaelea, and Miss Jay, Johnson was joined by her young granddaughters for a cartwheel on the runway post-show with Sinatra’s “New York, New York” playing. (Does it get any better?) As for the show, Johnson’s show notes break it down: “Betsey sent her [models] strutting down the catwalk in seven signature styles like cotton jumpsuits and tulle gowns in four different prints. For the demure girl next door, there were liberty florals. For the night owl, dazzling white sequins. For the sex vixen, fierce leopard. And for the downtown Bowery girl after Betsey’s own heart: punk. Everything was head-to-toe print, even the accessories, from bucket bags and satchels to sky-high stilettos and wedge sneakers to nameplate Betsey belts and jewelry.” You’ve done it again, BJ!
