Carven Spring 2016

by Paige Reddinger

To get to the Carven show in Paris, guests were ushered around a lengthy side of the Tuileries due to a job fair hosting brands like the Parisian supermarket chain Carrefour. The two passing crowds attending vastly different events couldn’t have been more contrasting. Inside the tent, Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud debuted a collection for PYTs, who may or may not have jobs yet, but do have cash to burn.

That crowd will definitely be scrambling to have Carven’s slightly belled pants, that make legs look a mile long. They’ll also be swiping up the assym mini skirts with punchy prints styled with sporty tees. We imagine a few of the little white dresses will be on their minds come spring too. And the grey leather jumpsuit? For those that can pull it off, it will be a must. The theme was aquatic and the design duo were thinking of early female divers, but the motif was mainly evident in the prints which were inspired by sea creatures like jellyfish and octopuses, seen in the spotty striations on skirts and dresses. It was also evident in a few nautical looking pieces like a white deck jacket with navy pants or the wavy lines of a white halter dress. Perfect for the young jet-setting crowd.
