Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2016

by The Daily Front Row

The Frick Collection was the ideal setting for Carolina Herrera’s richly-textured take on Fall. (Austerity is not Herrera’s thing, thank heavens.) The show was so polished and pristine that if you walked out of the place with the unshakable urge to ditch your denim and retouch your lipstick, you’re not alone. A seafoam green ruffled skirt and black sequined sweater on Lily Aldridge was a testament to the power of dressing for the occasion. If it’s a black-tie event you’re destined for, try the wide-leg chalk trousers, paired with a sleeveless tunic appliqued in small red buds and festooned with a long ribbon. If it’s dinner a deux, the long-sleeved black shift, covered in white silk flowers, is a surefire charmer. If you’re running the hautest hedge fund in town, might we suggest the sublime fur tunic over a multi-layered silk chiffon skirt for your holiday dinner at Daniel? In Herrera’s world, dressing down is rarely desirable. Aspirational fashion, done with nobility.
