Calvin Klein’s White Label Springs To Fall

by Daniel Chivu

Wonder where Spring has been hiding? We found a hint of it yesterday inside Calvin Klein’s fashion district HQ, as trees of cherry blossoms transformed the venue into a Spring fling. Yet Fall 2014 was on the mind, thanks to the latest Calvin Klein White Label collection on display, entitled ‘Tender versus tough.’ The cohesive collection served as reminder that 90’s resurgence is officially a thing, now that Calvin has given their seal of approval. Global creative director Kevin Carrigan focused on showing comfortable looks, on trend right now, with oversized, ribbed sweaters on the ladies. As for the hommes, it was all dressed-down tweeds, flannels, felts, and raw denim. No sign of the skinny jean anywhere with the pants slouchy and the waistlines loose. Standouts for the boys and girls were the outerwear, particularly the black and white tweed overcoat for the ladies. The Calvin customer expecting plenty of blacks and greys will be more than satisfied. Lest we forget one staple in every man and woman’s drawers: iconic Calvin Klein underwear was on display, with a hint of that iconic logo peeking right above the pants. Hello, 1992 homage! But don’t be alarmed that the collection is stuck in time; Calvin keeps it modern with a wink and a nod to their past. Don’t miss the brand’s sexy Instagram initiative #mycalvins, where users are asked to hashtag themselves in their CK knickers. We’re waiting for you, Mark and Kate.
