Calvin Klein Spring 2015

by Daniel Chivu

Red, white, and blue! What could possibly be more American? At Calvin Klein, Francisco Costa delivered a figure-elongating collection of knitwear and leather, both of which are increasingly important categories for designers. Few do it better than Costa at New York Fashion Week. Knitwear took shape as long sweater dresses worn over pants and skirts, a trend that’s going to be quite prevalent come Spring. The flared pants worn with Lucite slingback platforms (which accompanied every look) and jacquard knit open fly jacket was a must-have look. Two mini dresses, in a Mao red leather and marine navy, had a lacquer-like sheen; we imagine these will sell, sell, sell. That same red hue also cropped up on a stellar long perforated leather coat worn over a navy sheer knit skirt that peeped below the hem of the coat. It was classic Costa for Calvin: sleek, chic, and minimalist.
