Céline Plans For Expansion, Opens London Flagship

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Céline opened its first London flagship today on Mount Street since shuttering its previous London storefront in 2009, just before Phoebe Philo came on board to work her magic. The new store location was formerly a bank; it overlooks the Mount Street Gardens. The 3,240-square-foot store is the first roll out of 15 stores the brand plans to open this year. A 6,500-square-foot store is slated to open on April 28th on Paris’ chic Avenue Montaigne, while an even larger 7,000-square-foot space is slated to open in Omotesando in Tokyo on May 31st. Céline has another Asian storefront slated for the ultra-rich area of Chengdu, China in a 5,900-square-foot space on April 6th.

Americans will be getting more of their Céline fix, too, with a 4,300-square-foot space opening in Las Vegas at Crystals on May 14th and a space on Wooster Street in New York City’s Soho neighborhood set to open sometime in late August. The U.S. accounts for 15 percent of the brand’s business, while Europe accounts for 35 percent. As of 2013, Céline had 83 directly operated stores and has recently opened stand-alone shops in Printemps in Paris and Isetan in Japan.
