BuDhaGirl's Zen-Esque Baubles

by The Daily Front Row

Launched the day before NYFW, Susie Hoimes and Jessica Jesse‘s new jewelry line BuDhaGirl is already catching the eyes of stylish shoppers at chic boutiques like Elizabeth Charles in New York and and Dallas’ Ceylon et Cie. Also likely on their burgeoning stockist list? Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downing (the front row fixture is SVP and fashion director) was on hand to toast the unveiling when the designer duo fêted their fashions at Fifth Avenue’s La Grenouille. Hoimes and Jesse’s industry ties run quite deep: Jesse started her career modeling for legends like Hubert de Givenchy, Gianni Versace, and Valentino and later took on retail reigns at Neiman Marcus (hence the Downing connection!) and Saks Fifth Avenue. Hoimes, meanwhile, is both a designer and vintage jewelry expert with a San Francisco boutique, MDVII, where she sells her antique accessories and specializes in Georgian jewelry.

Both grew up with wordly influences: Hoimes’ childhood was spent in Africa, while Jesse’s was reared in Mexico and Europe, but the far East influence for this collection grew out of a shared interest in spirituality, as well as health in body and soul. “We wanted to come up with a fabulous fashion line that’s not only about fashion, but also about inspiration to help people get through their days,” said Hoimes. To wit: All Weather stackable gold bracelets are sealed with traditional prayer beads, plus a gold core cuff with a coffer on the inside. The purpose? A place to store daily inspirational messages. Also of note: signature resin made Buddha pendants for peaceful adornment. Plus, beautiful tangerine and pink stingray stackable wrist wraps come with changeable end caps shaped like a buddha, snake, lotus that look both expensive and elegant. Fortunately, this line is relatively affordable for its looks with prices starting as low as $75 for a necklace to $395 for the stingray wraps and coffer cuffs. Simply ohm-mazing!
