Bob Mackie Reunites With Cher For Her 'Farewell' Concerts

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) In perhaps the most fun blast from the past news, Bob Mackie will be reuniting with Cher to design costumes for what is being said to be her “farewell” tour. Mackie first met Cher back in the Sixties when he was designing costumes for The Carol Burnett Show. Since then, the designer has created some of Cher’s wildest iconic sequin-clad looks that have (understandably) garnered her much attention throughout her career. Who can forget Cher’s epic ensemble she wore to the 1986 Oscars? Although the look was ridiculed in the press, it has since become iconic. Your Daily can’t help but compare her mohawk-esque headdress to the one Sarah Jessica Parker recently rocked at the Met Ball’s Punk-themed gala. Everything comes full circle, non?

So it’s only natural the duo would pair up again for Cher’s blowout finale tour. Mackie plans to make 20 outfits for the diva’s multiple outfit changes, but as for what he has in store, we’ll have to wait and see as he has yet to begin sketching out the designs. What to expect from the process? Mackie told WWD that dressing Cher was no regular task; rather, it’s “like dressing a crazy goddess. Sometimes she’s an Egyptian goddess. Sometimes she’s a biker goddess.” We can’t wait!
