Blogger Spotlight! Sara Azani of Style MBA

by Sydney Sadick

Residing in D.C., New York and Los Angeles, Sara Azani shows her cool-girl meets polished style on her blog, Style MBA. The MBA grad gives us the scoop on covering the D.C. fashion scene, her latest projects, and, of course, what she thinks of Michelle Obama’s personal style.

Why did you start blogging?
Previous to blogging, I was working as a renewable energy expert at a consulting firm. Blogging was my creative outlet and a hobby I took on to explore the fashion world.

How do you cover the D.C. fashion scene?
As a D.C. native and one of its biggest fashion bloggers, I like to consider myself a style expert in D.C. I love working with local brands and magazines to share my thoughts on fashion and provide tips on how to style pieces. I love sharing current trends with readers and also hosting local store openings in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Thoughts on Michelle Obama’s style?
I love how timeless and chic her style is. She always supports under-the-radar designers and I respect that about her.

What are you loving in fashion right now?
Fringe and flares. Both trends are here to stay, and during New York Fashion Week they were all over the SS16 runways.

What’s one piece you recommend splurging on for fall?
A statement handbag. Chloé handbags are currently my favorite. When I think of investing in a fairly expensive item, I like to think of it as cost per wear. That helps ease the splurging.

What do you love to wear in L.A. that you’d never wear in D.C.?
I love wearing black sheer bras with a white semi-sheer tee. That’s very L.A., and if I wore that in D.C. it would turn way too many unwanted heads.

Are you working on any projects right now?
Some recent ones include a home design project with HomeGoods and Homepolish. I’m also working on some featured beauty content with Sephora and Buxom.

If you could raid anyone’s closet, whose would it be?
Olivia Palermo’s!
