Mayor De Blasio Visits the CFDA Fashion Incubator

Looks like Mayor Bill de Blasio continues his efforts to make some fashion-y friends: he’s inviting the CFDA to his pad (that would be Gracie Mansion) on Wednesday for a tipple or two before the whirlwind that is NYFW commences. Bloomberg used to kick off the catwalks by being the ribbon-cutter at Lincoln Center on day une of NYFW, but de Blasio is making things a bit more intimate with a couple cocktails at his newish Yorkville digs. Of course, CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg is invited, and a slew of designers are on the guest list, like Zac Posen, Prabal Gurung, and Yeohlee Teng. according to WWD. Pre-show prep aside, who can say no to some quality time with the mayor? As for NYC’s first couple’s fash cred, back in February, de Blasio held a press conference at the CFDA Incubator to talk up his commitment to local manufacturing, and wife Chirlane McCray donned Nanette Lepore for the inauguration (locally made, baby!). Now, this seems like a very intriguing place to be a fly on the wall…
