Beloved photographer Bill Cunningham is in the hospital after a reported stroke, Richard Johnson reports in the New York Post today. A New York Times spokeswoman told him: “Bill’s family and senior editors from The Times have been in regular contact with him. We believe that his recovery will be quick.” This past weekend’s Times Style section had no photographs from Cunningham, 87, for the first time in decades.

The late Oscar de la Renta once said of the beloved photog, “More than anyone else in the city, he has the whole visual history of the last 40 or 50 years of New York. It’s the total scope of fashion in the life of New York.” Let’s hope we see Bill back on the streets soon!

I wish that Bill Cunningham could have gone on forever! May his soul rest in peace.
He was one of a find when it came to capturing the fashion trends of New York streets.
A toast to Bill! Here! Here!!
