Barneys Looks for New Digs Downtown

by The Daily Front Row

Barneys’ newish owner, Richard Perry, bought the company last year and is already making some moves, literally: The company plans to open a flagship store complete with a Co-Op outpost somewhere downtown, likely below 14th Street. The news follows a recent announcement that the company will shutter its 18th Street Co-Op location on March 1st. Sad news for Chelsea-based chicsters! The reasoning behind the standalone Co-Op’s adieu? Its landlord is booting tenants out for a year to do a building makeover. If you’re worried about where you’re going to get your hands on a pair of half-price Prada pumps, the famous warehouse sale will be held at the 18th Street location for one last time in mid-February. It’s not the end of the Barneys bargain-studded biannual bonanza as we know it: future iterations of the sale will be held a few blocks away in Chelsea at a still-TBD location. Relieved much, luxe discount doyennes? We sure are…
