After a 15 year tenure at Time Inc. and eight at InStyle, Ariel Foxman will depart the publishing co. on August 4. Time Inc. is expected to name an interim EIC shortly, and the specifics behind Foxman’s reason for leaving were not divulged.

“With the close of our major September fashion issue and a recent print and digital redesign behind me, I’ve decided to explore new opportunities,” Foxman said in a statement. “I am grateful to Time Inc. and will always appreciate the incredibly talented team I’ve worked with over the years.”

“Under Ariel’s leadership, InStyle has achieved the largest circulation at the highest subscription price paid and has consistently led the fashion competitive set as the No. 1 newsstand seller for 18 consecutive years,” said Time Inc. vice chairman Norman Pearlstine in a press release. “We look forward to continuing to invest in InStyle, our fashion and beauty powerhouse, as we transform it into a multimedia multiplatform brand.

Since his beginnings at Time Inc., Foxman’s role has expanded into editorial director of InStyle and StyleWatch, and oversight of The InStyle Collection—InStyle, Mimi, xoJane, and The Outfit. When asked if the move was related to the juggling act, he told WWD, “There’s really very little subtext here. I asked myself, ‘What do I want to be doing next? What opportunities do I want to explore?’ For me, its really about creating incredible content for engaged audiences.” As for what’s next? He alluded to a long vacation and writing more about men’s fashion.
