All Hail Hillary (And Kors)

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) While last year’s Golden Heart Awards was all about Michael Kors, this year the designer shared the spotlight with fashion’s beloved politico, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Held for the first year ever at Spring Studios, there was a fashionable pilgrimage of 700 guests, decked out in stilettos and tuxedos, to the Tribeca locale for the God’s Love We Deliver gala. The non-profit has been providing completely free meals to those who are struggling with grave illnesses for over 28 years. This year’s gala, thoughtfully held on World Hunger Day, was the most successful event ever, with the largest attendance in the history of the God’s Love. Kors selected Clinton to be honored with the first Michael Kors Award for Community Services, explaining to The Daily “she knows about balance and she has deep compassion for everyone in the world, which is what today’s event is all about!”

While Clinton stealthily skipped the cocktail hour, making a beeline for the dinner and silent auction, the likes of Anna Wintour, Eva Chen, Karlie Kloss, Giovanna Battaglia, Jennifer Hudson, Hilary Swank, Bette Midler, Cindi Leive, Terry Richardson, Audrey Gelman, Derek Blasberg, Tabitha Simmons, Olivia Munn and Iman dressed up for the evening. Hilary Rhoda reminisced on her first meeting with Kors when she was in high school: “I went up to his office and I was so nervous, but he is so good at making everyone feel comfortable. He was telling jokes as if we had known each other forever.” While Anja Rubik giggled that “every time you go to fit with him before the show, everyone is laughing. [Kors] is always fun!” Aerin Lauder was also celebrated last night, scooping up an award for Lifetime Achievement, while Jeff Gates and Mike Moran were honored for their Outstanding Volunteerism. At the end of the night, over $3 million was raised, and there was only a minor bidding war between Swank and Munn for a tour of Condé Nast. At least the scuffle was in the name of charity, right?
