Alexis Mabille Couture Spring 2015

by Dena Silver

For Spring, Alexis Mabille‘s Couture collection oozed glamour. The show kicked off with a full-on sequined strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, followed by a kimono-inspired frock covered in oversized blossoms, and each look that followed offered up quite a hefty dose of glam. That glitzy feeling extended from head to toe, with each mod sporting little plumes of feathers in the hair. Flowers made frequent appearances on the Couture designs, too, emblazoning light layers of chiffon and swingy tunic-esque bubblegum pink frocks.

The most successful looks were the unapologetically glamorous ones, like a fastidiously cut emerald green gown with a flowing train and a red dress with a substantial cape. These were the gowns that proved Mabille’s mastery of tailoring. A duo of white looks were also particularly bold, sporting intricate lace and interspersed with satin. Topping off the sultry feel of the entire show was the last look: a nude gown tied up with a gargantuan navy bow that nearly engulfed the mod donning it. Quite a dramatic finale, non?
