Alexa Chung & Laura Brown Debut Harper’s Bazaar Supplement, “harper”

by Zachary Weiss

Soho House’s 4th floor brought together a bevy of cool kids last night to fete the first issue of Harper’s Bazaar insert, “harper.” The mini addition to the monthly publication adds a special supplement targeting stylish and social millennial women who love to shop. Spearheaded by Laura Brown, the mag is set to debut in the March issue. “You know why I wanted Chung for this? Because she’s the best. It was the inaugural issue, the first harper; she was perfect,” Brown told The Daily of Alexa Chung‘s involvement in the mag. “And she’s a born editor, amongst everything else she can do.”

Editor and cover star Chung was also, of course, on hand to celebrate too. “Laura Brown is a friend of mine, someone who I work with often. She asked if I would agree to guest edit it, which I’ve never done before. Then the caveat was that I would go blonde for the cover,” Chung told The Daily. “[Laura] said, ‘We’re going to dye your hair.’ and I was like, ‘No, you’re not!’ Thank God, It was a wig!”

Both Brown and Chung are seasoned fashion week vets, obviously. “My friend just told me I’m robot because I’m always awake, and I never have greasy hair,” Chung told us of her high-octane fashion week schedule. “I don’t have time to wash it, and it’s never greasy, so I must be a robot!” We’re inclined to agree… The dynamic duo was joined by fellow cool girls Athena Calderone, Natalie Joos, Leigh Lezark, Harley Viera-Newton, and Chelsea Leyland, who all stopped by to celebrate.
