Alex Gonzalez Named Executive Artistic Director At Town & Country

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Another Hearst artistic director gig for Alex Gonzalez! In addition to his artistic director title at Marie Claire, Gonzalez is taking on the role of executive artistic director position at Town & Country, effective immediately. Gonzalez will continue to report to Anne Fulenwider, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, in addition to Town & Country’s EIC, Jay Fielden. Gonzalez is the (sort of) successor to Edward Leida, formerly design director at the title. Leida left the mag in May and made his next move in the retail orbit, taking in the role of VP, design director at Barneys New York.

Before Marie Claire, Gonzalez was creative director at W. With an illustrious career in the biz that includes creative director stints at W, GQ, Mirabella and Flair, Gonzalez was also responsible for the re-launch of German Vogue, Manner Vogue and L’Uomo Vogue.  Also, Gonzalez co-founded creative powerhouse agency AR Media in 1996 with Raul Martinez; he serves as executive creative director at AR.

The duo of Hearst roles will involve overseeing the overall design of both Marie Claire and Town & Country, adding to the current list of photographers and stylists at both glossies, and influencing each brand’s identity. As for Fielden’s thoughts on the addition of Gonzalez to the T&C mix, “his visual style exudes elegance, glamour and drama, bringing everything to life,” Fielden said in a statement. What will Gonzalez’s glossy finesse bring to T&C? Stay tuned!
