Alberta Ferretti Spring 2015

by Alexandra Ilyashov

Dreamy, ethereal prettiness: Alberta Ferretti‘s got the market cornered on all things wispy and feminine, and she didn’t disappoint this season. Nude floor-grazers in  beautifully worked gauzy layers dominated the collection, along with an array of pitch-perfect white frocks sporting incredible detailing, the most perfect takes on eyelet and floral embroidery around. Pastels balanced out the emphasis on neutrals, including a mint-hued empire-waisted number, ruched at the chest and sauced up a bit by a floral harness of sorts. Fringe abounded, in shades of lavender, blush, and periwinkle as well as a plethora of nudes, trimming the hems of frocks both short and long and swinging from festival-ready bags. When pants and shorts made cameos (and even a languidly draped nude jumpsuit), there was as much diaphanous movement as those gowns; no small feat. A short burst of chambray-esque separates, involving in one look a nude crop top and swingy blue trou that dissolved mid-calf into floral embroidery and sheer nude flares. Ferretti makes it completely OK to be as frilly as possible, and look pretty delightful in the process.
