A Hamptons Hair-Do

by The Daily Front Row

As a relatively new designer, Danielle Queller has held court in the fine jewelry scene for two years, with her baubles already gracing the covers of glossies and red carpets across the globe. We caught up with the Queen of Bling as she prepped for a night out on the town at AKF Salon in Southampton, with owner Rose Ferraro taking charge of this Babyliss blowout.

Danielle, tell us a little about your jewelry line!
I started by creating a few pieces for myself personally, and I made a few pieces for friends. Then it spread by word of mouth, and next thing I knew I had a ton of people calling to put in orders! I don’t like to see what I have on myself on other people when I walk in a room and the same stands for my friends.

Where can we purchase your designs?
Predominantly through word of mouth, but I am in one store in Los Angeles, only because I’m crazy about it! The boutique is called Roseark, owned by Kathy Rose.

Is there a specific jewelry designer that influences you?
Interestingly enough, I don’t really follow other jewelry designers and I’ve never really been a big shopper of new jewelry. I don’t know much about other designers, so I’m not influenced by others. It may be a naïveté that works to my advantage in the end.

How long have you been coming out to the Hamptons?
I’ve been out here since I was a little girl, so this place holds a lot of memories for me. And I’ve watched this place change drastically! I remember when East Hampton was a two movie town and when the Jitney was a van.

Where could we catch you dining out East?
Sant Ambroeus is one of our favorites, but we also love cooking.

Sounds tasty! What was the last meal you cooked?
We did a huge outdoor BBQ with the whole family.

AND! A moment with Rose Ferraro, owner of AKF Salon…
Why do you use Babyliss prodcuts?
Babyliss has been one of the newer tools we’ve been introduced to recently and I love it. They’re light, easy to use and the results are amazing.

How do you choose what is stocked in your salon?
I like to stay on top of what’s new and what works best.

Tool of choice?
I prefer the Babyliss blow dryer because it dries hair fast and the machine inside this thing is incredibly strong!

How could we recreate Danielle’s look?
Danielle had long beautiful hair so I decided to leave it down. Starting with a round brush and Babyliss Nano Light Blow Dryer, I dried her hair, giving it fullness and body. Then using the Babyliss Nano Tools Digital Memory Flatiron, I went over the top layer of hair to seal down the cuticle and keep out the humidity. Finally, I used the Nano Tools Rotating Curling Iron by Babyliss to create texture and curl for a smooth but tousled look.
