A Defeatless Evening

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) In the depths of the Tribeca Grand Hotel, The Cinema Society and Tommy Hilfiger gathered the cast for a screening of The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete. Executive producer of the film, Alicia Keys brought along her husband, Swizz Beats to walk the carpet and get cozy in the luscious seats of the hotel’s mini movie theater. Also on hand? Jennifer Hudson, Tommy and Dee Hilfiger, Maxwell, Jamie Chung, Clive Davis, Steve Buscemi, Natasha Bedingfeld, Nicole Miller, and Ann Dexter-Jones.  Hudson gushed to The Daily about working with Keys. “One of the things I love about working with Alicia is that everything is very easy and laidback,” said Hudson. “Nothing is ever too much.”

The film is about the hard knock life in the Brooklyn projects, in which Hudson played a drug addict forced to leave her son to forage for himself. While tattoos decorated Hudson’s body, don’t expect her to get inked anytime soon. “I would never get a tattoo, although it was fun to try it out!”

After the film, partiers trooped to Keys’ Chelsea recording studio, where they milled about with Hennessey cocktails in hand and nibbled on hor d’oeuvres from Olivier Cheng like lobster BLTs and Peking duck fritters. A killer soundtrack bumped through the speakers as the party lingered late into the evening inside the studio, where Keys’ music-making magic happens, to the rooftop with a 360 degree view of New York (hello, Empire State Building!).
