You’ve seen W‘s saucy August cover, with Taraji P. Henson fronting the mag’s annual Pop issue. So, what’s inside? The glossy gave The Daily an exclusive sneak peek of its “Privacy Settings” shoot, lensed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and starring 10 “social supermodels”. The gaggle of partially-clothed beauties was styled by W‘s fashion and style director, Edward Enninful, includes Joan Smalls, Doutzen Kroes, Lily Aldridge, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Anna Ewers, Emily Ratajkowski, and Barbara Palvin.

“With social media as their platform for expression, models captivate audiences in new ways, their power to seduce—fans and brands alike—stronger than ever,” Enninful said of the shoot. “As we conceptualized this portfolio for our Pop issue, we wanted to explore this theme, commenting on the ideas of voyeurism, privacy, and censorship vs. self-expression on social media.”

When you’re shooting nude, there’s always a sense of empowerment,” Huntington-Whiteley told the mag. Teigen explained why less is more for her: “The most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on set was having to model coats. I actually am better in less clothing.” And Smalls touched on the disconnect between one’s image (projected on, say, social media) and one’s looks IRL.  “People say, ‘You’re prettier in person,’ and I’m like, ‘Is that a compliment?’” Smalls told W.
